Cancer Books

Welcome to the Cancer Books website and perhaps I should say sorry that you have reason to be here as that possibly means you, or someone close to you, has been diagnosed with cancer. Having faced that diagnosis myself I empathise with you and hope that the information you will find on this site will be of use to you.

I know from my own experience that at the time of diagnosis it is important to read everything that you can about your illness, to try and understand what will happen to you and what the future may hold. I have tried to make this an easy reference point to find the major books of interest about each type of cancer; cancer in general; dealing with treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy; life after cancer; dietary changes you may wish to investigate; alternative therapies; dealing with a terminal diagnosis, there are so many things to think about when dealing with this illness!

Each book that I have listed can be purchased directly from Amazon just by clicking it’s image. In a few rare cases a book is only available from another online retailer but these are clearly marked. If a book you really want seems to be out of stock, please email me and I will try and source it from elsewhere for you.

Where possible I have also tried to list other online sources of information and help to you. This website is still a work in progress so if you know of an information resource which might be useful to others please email me.

The four most commonly diagnosed cancers in the UK have their own pages (see navigation on the left), all other cancers I have placed within the ‘Other Cancers’ section.

This site is meant as a start point for you to find books to answer your questions or to find online resources that may be of help. If you are ever worried about a troubling symptom, please contact your doctor/oncology team/macmillan nurse straight away, I know to my own cost that delaying seeking proper medical attention can make a lot of difference with this disease!

Another word of caution if you decide to undertake your own research into aspects of your specific illness, you may find facts and figures that upset or discourage you. Always keep in mind that, until proved otherwise, it could be YOU that’s the one in a million to blow the stats.

I hope the information on this site is of use to you and wish you healthy days ahead.
